Wii | 2million sold!

December 28, 2006

Hey,

According to the statistics taken from nexgenwars.com the Nintendo Wii has officially sold 2million units worldwide! This means that they have reached their goal, unlike that other company.

For all those who play games, especially online, can you say “Pwnage!” =-)

[Update] I guess I should read other news before I write my own stuff. According to this article and this website, the unit count is quite different then nexgenwars.com. Please click and check it out.

Wii | Future Shop shipment this week!

December 19, 2006

Hey guys,

I was just checking out the Future Shop website and noticed an interesting comment. Link

This was updated on the 6th of December.

“A new shipment of Wii systems shipped to Future Shop stores this week. Estimated dates of arrival will vary by store, so please check with your local Future Shop for availability. Also, an additional shipment of Wii’s will arrive in Future Shop stores the week of December 18th. Again, estimated dates of arrival will vary, so please check with your local Future Shop for availability.”

So for those of you who still didn’t get it over the weekend, you still have a chance. Also, since Future Shop is owned by Best Buy it is very likely that they will also receive another shipment.

Call your stores people!

P.S My friend went to Futureshop today looking for a Wii and saw six 60gig PS3 on the shelves. I guess there isn’t much demand for it anymore! Gooooo Nintendo!

Wii | Got Wii?

December 19, 2006

Hey,

I am looking for feedback on this one.

Do you guys think there is any chance people who still didn’t get a Wii over the weekend will get one for X-Mas? I personally think Nintendo might have a last minute shipment on Friday or Saturday. But this is my opinion and is completely unfounded (don’t start rumors people!).

What do you guys think?

p.s One more thing… Do you remember Sony saying they would ship 2million units by the end of the year? HAHA!

Wii | Forecast channel is up!!!

December 19, 2006

Sup guys!

I woke up this morning and noticed my Wii’s light was glowing. I started it up and noticed I had received an email from Nintendo saying that I could now access the forecast channel after a quick update (it was quick!). I then clicked on the ‘Update’ button available with the email and voila! I now have the forecast channel!

It is currently -25degrees Celsius on Mount Everest!

The system itself reminds me of google earth with fewer details but with much faster and smoother controls. It’s cool and the little things like the sound effects of rain and thundershowers played while moving the hand over their respective icons is a nice touch!

P.S When you first start it up you are asked where you live, this is a good idea because it doesn’t just put you anywhere on the map.

Forecast Channel 8.5/10

Wii | Toys”R”us getting some consoles tomorrow!

December 15, 2006

toysrus

According to many moms and dads that I have spoken to throughout the day, there should be a shipment of Wii for sale tomorrow (Saturday) at your local Toys’R'us stores. This seems to be true at least for the greater Montreal area, hopefully this is similar for all of Canada.

Wii | Cool skins for the Console & Controller!

December 14, 2006

For all of you fortunate enough to have been able to purchase your Wii. There is a cool site/business who offers various skins for the Wii console and the controller at DecalGirl.com. There are tons available for the console and as much for the controller, it really is worth checking out. If the actual products are as nice as the pictures, then there should be a very high demand for these skins.

These pictures were taken from there site.

The price for the console skins are $14.99 while the controller skins go for $4.99. There is a shipping fee of $4.50 to the US and $8.50 to Canada, while they do offer free shipping for orders of $30 or more.

Wii | Consoles on sale the 17th!

December 13, 2006

* IMPORTANT *

According to www.nintendowiifanboy.com the following might be true.

BestBuy and others might be holding out on Wii’s until the 17th!?

You guys have to go read this now, this might only apply to the American market but also possibly to the Canadian market! Click Here Now!

[Update]

Here are two comments from employees that work at other electronic retailers, they state the same thing. Taken from here

  • Mit Man Says:
December 13th, 2006 at 11:25 amI work at GameStop and can confirm that we all are also holding all shipments of Wii’s until Sunday morning. Get there early, because stores will probably only have 6-9 (we should have 9 but we sold our first 3 to some people who worked next door).
  • tjeremy Says:
December 13th, 2006 at 12:42 pmFor what it’s worth, there is a Target memo telling employees to do the same for the 17th as well.—These added comments seem to provide support to back up the first claim.

    Spread the word people!!!

  • Wii | Component cables

    December 13, 2006

    Hey guys,

I received and installed my official Nintendo component cables and well… my TV doesn’t support progressive scan. That means these cables work, but it doesn’t make much of a difference. Actually, I don’t think it makes any difference! Oh well, at least I will have them for the future.

So for all of you who think that simply having component inputs will do the trick, think again! You really need a TV that accepts component + progressive scan, so that the Wii can successfully output at the higher resolution.

One more note, I went to BestBuy the other day and they were selling generic component cables for the Wii. I unfortunatly could not find the price indicated anywhere and couldn’t find a salesclerk either. So go check it out for yourself!!!

    Later!

Car | I finally got my car!

    December 13, 2006

    Mazda 3 logo

After 3 long years of waiting and saving up for this car, I jumped on the deal of a lifetime. A co-worker of mine had leased this car for a 3 year term and decided he wouldn’t keep it. Knowing he had barely any mileage and the car was driven by his wife, I knew I had to get it.

I got my baby for $14.6k +tax with just over 31,000km! If you do a quick market search for these cars you will see that a Mazda 3 sport GT 2004 with 30,000km go for roughly $19-20k! In addition, the previous owner had installed front and rear protectors and most importantly a car starter!(I know you fellow Canucks know how good that is!)

So here are a few more pictures. I would take more but its raining here right now so it wouldn’t look that great.

    Enjoy! – I sure will!

Wii | Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 review

    December 13, 2006

Hey guys, this is my DBZ game review for the Wii. DBZ

I will incorporate and base my ratings on the same criterias as IGN.com utilizes.

    Presentation(9/10)

IGN: An awesome cel-shaded look, a story mode that covers every saga in the franchise battle for battle, 120 playable fighters, and hours of English/Japanese VO. What more could you ask for?

Me: Like they say, if you have watched the anime on television and want to relive it through the game, you can! It goes through every aspect of the story, including every fights and training periods. Not only is the story good (duh), but even the other options are fun and add a lot to your play time.

    Graphics (9/10)

IGN: Player damage, destructible environments, tons of solid character animations and effects, and an overall look that rivals the show. Supports 480p, but no 16:9. Weak.

Me: The graphics are amazing, the look of the cel-shaded characters and environments are truly stunning. When you do blast attacks or any other special moves (Kamekameha) they looks awesome and you really feel the power of those blasts! I just wanted to add that I am comparing this and my other Wii games with my old N64 games so they will obviously look much better, but nonetheless I play games in a 1600×1200 on my computer and I still think the DBZ graphics look sweet!

    Sound (8.5/10)

IGN: There’s hours of dialogue for both English and Japanese fans, as well as over 30 music tracks. Some of the sound effects could be better though, and most is rehashed from the previous game.

Me: I agree with the previous statement, but once again since I never played any other version the sound/music is great!

    Gameplay (8.5/10)

IGN: The AI is pretty tough, and the combat has gotten a bit better. The added motion control is a definite plus, and basically evens out the fact that the game is a port of the PS2 version.

Me: I just have to start off by saying that anyone who buys or rents this game should first start off by doing the complete practice tutorials! I had originaly just booted up the game and started playing with my girlfriend without any prior knowledge of how things worked and I was quite disapointed in the game after an hour. The next day I decided to go through the tutorial and it was my best decision ever! They clearly explain how everything works and how to successfully do the combos and air attacks etc.

The game is now amazing, I can easily do 10-15hit combos and they are soooo cool to do and watch! I can easily say that this game is worth the purchase!

    Lasting Appeal (9/10)

IGN: With an immense story mode covering the whole Dragon Ball lineage, Ultimate Z fighter customization, and all-new tag battles the game is simply huge. A bit More depth in fighting is needed.

Me: They sum things up quite well. I think this is a very complete and in depth game that offers a lot to the player.

    Car | I got itttttttttttttttt!
