Wii – Stephen Colbert & the Wii

November 28, 2006

If any of you watched the Colbert Report last night you undoubtedly saw the Wii being played by Stephen. He was freaking hilarious and obviously someone put it on youtube for everyone to watch. The thing that most of you will be remembering is what he said towards the end “quite possibly the most addicting video game of all time” (Stephen).

So here it is!

Laugh it up people!

Funny – Breakdancing Kid

November 28, 2006

Hey guys,

Last X-Mas I filmed some kid breakdancing at my girlfriend’s family party and this guy kicked ass! So here it is, edited and resized for you viewing pleasure. Keep in mind that this was filmed with a camera phone, so please don’t go bashing the quality.

Enjoy!

My thoughts! – Wii

November 27, 2006

Sup, sup!

Alright so here it is, my first impressions on the system and the games.

Console

The system is nice, clean, sleek, small and lite. It can fit anywhere or almost and the wiring takes a second.

Menu

Very easy to use – point and click – system is simple.

Options

Easy, step by step walk-troughs guide you to a successful Wii system install. Nothing exciting here.

Internet/ System Update

As you can see from my previous post, I am having a lot of difficulties with connecting to the Nintendo server and then once that happens the system freezes during updates!

Wiimote

Very cool, fun and easy to use. The only problem I have right now is that my TV is very close to my couch and when you play Wii Sports and swing around or get up to play bowling its a bit annoying. The other thing is that because I am so close the Wiimote position is a little awkward but not horrid or annoying.

Games

Wii Sports: Tennis rules! Bowling is a blast, golf is ok, baseball is ok and boxing sucks (it really isn’t responsive to the controller).

Zelda: Wiiiiiiiiii!

Rayman & DBZ: Believe it or not, I still haven’t tried these two games out yet. Waiting for the girlfriend. :)

Overall, I love the Wii and its games. The obvious thing that is really killing me right now is the damn system update crashes and problems. Arghhh!!

Later guys!

Big problem!!! – Wii

November 27, 2006

Sup guys,

I got home around 30minutes ago and decided to boot up the Wii and try to do the system update after yesterday’s countless failed attempts. I therefore went into the appropriate menu clicked and the data was actually downloaded (never reached that point before). So, the next step was to actually patch the system which didn’t go so well. The progress bar got stuck at the 40% mark and just stayed there forever. I tried moving my Wiimote around clicking everywhere (like a computer) and nothing mattered, it still didn’t affect the “frozen” bar.

A picture:

Update failure

I then decided I couldn’t just wait around for hours to see if anything would happen so I took my controller and pressed the power button. Nothing happened! The damn thing is completely frozen.

Here is the video of the entire thing… enjoy – cuz I sure didn’t! —— Oh and the video kind of sucks, so bare with me! =-)

As you can see it restarted properly and didn’t cause any damage (that I can see) but this shit totally sucks! Anyone else having this problem or at least knows how to fix it?! I am desperate here!

[UPDATE] After crashing the system a few more times during the night it finally worked!!! I am now updated and able to surf the shopping channel. (its so damn slow!)

Can someone tell me where to get Component cables?

November 27, 2006

Sup guys,

I looked behind my TV set yesterday and notice that I actually have component inputs! WoW! Now all I need is the cables, anyone have a clue where I can get them?

[Updated]  Never mind! I went on the Nintendo site and purchased it from there, for $45 with tax and shipping. Ouch!

How depressing! – Wii Games

November 23, 2006

Well, as most of you know now. I still don’t have the Wii system but I do have Zelda and an extra controller/nunchuck. Today, having forgotten about it, I received my order for 2 more Wii games – Rayman & DBZ.

Now if I had the system I would obviously be completely pumped about these new arrivals, but because of my situation this just adds insult to the already agonizing situation!

I want a Wii! If anyone in Canada knows something that can help me get one, PLEASE TELL ME! (no auctions)

Here are some pictures I took!

God, I want the system soooooooo bad now!!!

Enjoy! (cause I sure in’t!)

Finally I get some good news!!!

November 22, 2006

I just wanted to start this off by saying that this has nothing to do with the Nintendo Wii. So if you are only on my blog for that (which would make sense), then don’t bother reading this. You might find it totally useless! :)

My story:

I was heading back home after school when my mom called me on my cellphone; she then went on about all this useless stuff I totally blocked out. Once her rambling ceased, she mentioned that the guy I’m buying a car off wants me to contact the dealer in order to prepare for the final transaction.

Mine will look identical to this one – Mazda3 Sport GT – click on the picture!

My Mazda3

If you think I was obsessed with the Wii, you’re wrong! (At least to some extent!) I have been dreaming about this car since the beginning of 2004 and have been looking for a deal on it ever since. Finally I found out this summer that a co-worker of mine was giving back ‘his’ after the lease period and offered me to do the buy-back. When he told me the car would value approximately $5,000 less then it sells on the market I instantly jumped around with joy! The latest news he had given me was that I would get it on the 15th of December but with this last update, there is a slight chance I might get it earlier! I can’t wait!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s At least this has “somewhat” made me forget about the past few days.

It can’t always be good news – Wii problems & solutions

November 22, 2006

Hey guys and girls! :)

Like anything on this planet, nothing is perfect! Therefore some Nintendo consumers are reporting  “some” glitches with their Wii’s. These problems don’t seem too disastrous but Nintendo is still making sure “customer satisfaction” is maintained. Please click on the link to read more about it: HERE!!!

p.s I have no idea how I am still able to write or even look at my screen, I barely slept after writing my term paper for 7 hours straight! You just have to love procrastination! :)

Another sad day… No Wii!

November 21, 2006

wiiless-logo.JPG

Today was supposed to be a very very good day because I was 99.9% sure I was going to get a Wii console. Instead my day ended up being a repeat of this past Sunday.

I woke up at 6:30am (so early!) along with my girlfriend and met up with a coworker/friend at work for 7:00am to drive down to the inauguration of a new “company x” warehouse not to far from my house. The warehouse opened at 8:00am and we got there at 7:45am. Knowing how many consoles would be available, we were confident we would have no problem getting it, especially since it’s the opening day and it opened 2 hours earlier. Who would show up right? Well, too much people! Once the doors opened we dashed towards the registers, we obviously knew the item number, and we’re told by the cashier that we needed a ticket and without it we couldn’t buy our Wii! A whattttttttt?! A ticket?!!? So we started running all over the place to find these damn tickets, of course we had no luck, until someone finally told us they had given them all out. We started crying like babies… not really. But we were extremely, extremely disappointed once again. We then walked to the front of the cashes and stared mindlessly at all the people purchasing our golden Wii, one by one. We couldn’t believe we lost our chance again and couldn’t get ourselves to walk out, we kept telling ourselves that there was still a chance someone wouldn’t buy it (ya right!).

After leaving we ended up eating breakfast at Zellers, which was surprisingly good for the price, and looked for our Wii in hope that they had received a shipment. I don’t need to tell you what the outcome was.

So that’s it. My backup plan failed and I am now totally out of luck. No Wii for me.

I will now go cry, cry and cry some more.

PS3 eBay X-Mass Rush! – Big money!

November 21, 2006

ebay-logo.jpg

As most of you are aware, there was a huge listing on eBay for PS3 consoles that were being sold for thousands of dollars to the highest (and richest!) bidder. Where those auctioneers failed was in their timing. Although this was the launch weekend and pretty much every hardcore Sony gamer wanted one of these suckers and wanted it right away. The real money will be made a few days before X-mass, approximately on the 21st and 22nd of December, because these individuals had enough brains to wait to sell their black gold. They clearly realized that a few days before the fat man arrives on the 25th, desperation will overtake every wealthy parent on this planet. These parents will practically sell their maids (most likely) to anyone willing to give their precious PS3 in exchange.

Therefore I have two comments I would like to make. For those who plan on waiting and selling it right before X-mass, you guys are brilliant. As for those who will purchase it out of total panic, you guys are complete suckers!

Sony planned the PS3 shortage as a marketing strategy – Lapresse.ca

November 21, 2006

Pénurie de consoles: «Sony a tout planifié»(Link) is the title of a French article written for a Montreal newspaper editor. It essentially describes the rarity of the console as a brilliant marketing strategy employed by Sony, in order to further increase demand for it.

I am guessing that the writer is totally unaware of Sony’s manufacturing difficulties and simply linked its lack of supplies with a good way to create more enthusiasm and demand. I for one think Sony simply messed up real bad and won’t be able to catch up until they deliver the killer aps such as MGS4 and others currently in the works.

What do you guys think?
